have love, will travel

The Black Keys “Gold On The Ceiling” from PEDESTRIAN.TV on Vimeo.

Based on my last few playlists, it’s probably pretty obvious that I love The Black Keys. So when I saw a few months ago that their tour was coming to the area, I most definitely bought a ticket. And finally, after all that waiting, they’re playing in Austin tonight!

Which would be awesome… if my ticket was for tonight’s show. Here. Where I live.

Instead, I {along with some wonderful friends I somehow coerced into going with me} will be making the trek to Tulsa this weekend for their Saturday night show. Who needs logic when you can have love? And an eight hour drive. One way.

At least we’ll have plenty of good music for the car ride… Happy hump day!

so much fun, it should be illegal

Like I mentioned, last weekend I made a quick trip to Austin for some girl time. While highlights from the weekend included enjoying lunch at the super cool Elizabeth St. Boulangerie {thanks to a tip from the lovely Ana of Grown-up Shoes} and a leisurely afternoon of wine tasting at Stone House Vineyard, perhaps my favorite Austin outing was our evening spent sipping mezcal by candle light.

two weeks & several cities later

For those who were curious, here’s the *brief* rundown of my two weeks of travel {and my excuse for the lack of blog posts while I was away} – snow one week, sun and sand the next, and a few shenanigans for good measure.

More specifically it went something like this… Dallas,TX to Salisbury, MD {by way of Charlotte, NC}, a road-trip and a few days spent in Baltimore, MD with my sister, then on to Salt Lake City, UT {after a brief layover in Dallas, TX}, back home for the weekend, then off again to Fort Lauderdale, FL for the week {with day trips to Miami, Boca Raton, and Hollywood, FL}, and now finally back to Dallas… for a couple days, anyways.

So who’s ready for a Thanksgiving road-trip?! Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? More photos after the jump! Continue Reading →

better run, better run

Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks from Foster The People on Vimeo.

As I’ll be on the run for the next two weeks on a whirlwind work tour {and obviously in need of some trip tunage}, it seemed only fitting that I share what’s currently topping my playlist. Seriously can’t get enough of these guys… In fact, I suggest playing the album on repeat all day. Because that’s what I’ll be doing.

Happy Monday!

where’s waldo?

“Bullfighter Jacket” by Miniature Tigers from Ben Collins on Vimeo.

Since everyone’s favorite guy in stripes loves a good crowd, my guess is that he’ll be at Zilker Park this weekend for this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival – which is where yours truly will be found as well! Since the festival is a few weeks earlier than it has been the past couple of years, sadly I didn’t get around to sharing my annual ACL playlist. So instead, I’m leaving you with this “Where’s Waldo?” inspired music video from Miniature Tigers {the first band up tomorrow on my personal concert line-up!} which perfectly captures the zaniness that is festival crowds. Gah, can’t wait!! Heading to ACL? Who’s on your line-up?

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

i’m goin’ to jackson, i’m gonna mess around…

Yea, I’m Instagraming Jackson,
Photog’n all of Jackson town.

Ok, so maybe I took a *few* liberties with the lyrics… Just wanted to share some shots from my business trip to Jackson, Mississippi earlier this week. Hope everyone’s having a happy hump day! Continue Reading →

vacation photos? there’s an app for that…

It occurred to me the other day that I had forgotten to share my very exciting news – after MUCH anticipation I have finally upgraded to an iPhone!!! Yay! And while I love, umm, EVERYTHING about it, the camera {and photo editing apps} have easily become my favorite features. Of course like any kid with a new toy, it seems I’ve unwittingly been playing favorites with my technology. Case in point – my mini vacation this week to visit my sister in Maryland. While I diligently packed my camera for every outing on the trip, it was my iPhone that saw all the action. Here are a few of my favorite shots {edited using Instagram} from our afternoons on the boardwalks in Ocean City, Maryland and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! More images after the jump! Continue Reading →

here’s to you, america!

As this holiday weekend finds me heading to Houston to drink by my parents’ pool, it seemed only fitting to share these shots from my last visit home. Behold! The Beer Can House! Sadly, this is not actually my childhood home, but rather one of Houston’s lesser known {but let’s face it, amazing} landmarks. Fun fact: Ripley’s Believe It or Not estimated that over 50,000 cans adorn the house. Even funner {yes, funner} fact: the artist, his wife and their neighbors drank all the beer themselves – it took 18 years but wow. That’s a lot of beer. Something to aspire to this weekend maybe? To read more about this labor of love, click here. And of course, more pics after the jump! Continue Reading →

planet marfa

As previously mentioned in my last post, I decided to do a “What I Wore” post donning one of my new (and favorite) pieces of clothing – The Long Tail Skirt. (via Nastygal) It’s super comfy, fun and worthy of a twirl! What more could you ask for in a summer skirt?..especially in the 1000 degree weather! Luckily, it came just in time for what’s become an annual trip to Marfa, TX with my boyfriend. If you’ve never heard of Marfa, do yourself a favor and look it up. It is by far one of the weirdest and most eccentric towns I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Continue Reading →

wonders never cease

Last week while on business in upstate New York, I had the great fortune to visit Niagra Falls for the first time {some days my job truly amazes me}! Sadly, I forgot my passport and was unable to see it from the Canadian side – which rumor has it is really a much more impressive view – but I can’t say I was disappointed. Absolutely breathtaking. In fact, my coworker and I were so taken by the falls that we actually made two visits {first, just before sunset and the second time in the early afternoon}. I took a TON of pictures but tried to narrow it down to some of my favorites… there’s still quite a few.
