spring has sprung… in winter

Sure it’s February and technically still winter – why should that stop Mother Nature from sending Texas 70° days? Talk about your mixed messages. Regardless of the fact that I’m not quite ready to part with our cooler weather {when it reaches 90° outside for more than 50% of the year, you’re in no hurry}, all signs seem to point to spring. So while I may be in denial about the seasonal shift, I’m warming up to the idea with these spring-y takes on classic stripes. Needless to say, I’m crushing hard on this lust-worthy {and spring appropriate} sweater, but I think I may be in love with this budget-friendly rug – preppy with a hint of, albeit girlie, attitude.

In fact, if this is any indication of what next season holds, maybe I’m ok with it coming a little sooner than normal. Maybe.

shiny and new

2011 is looking bright {and shiny and new}, which has left me thinking I should really do the same.

That is my new outlook as of January 1st, which is why I’ve been eyeing this
oh-so-sparkly crystal necklace. And after spending all of last year lusting after similar styles, I’ve decided I might make my dreams a reality and splurge just this once – especially since it didn’t magically appear under the tree this year. {Another reason I believe in bestowing gifts upon thyself.} Continue Reading →

Sassy, retro and always eye-catching, it’s the perfect autumn shade to make a statement – in your home or wardrobe. Continue Reading →

sparkle for any day {or night}

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer – which means there are just that many more hours in the day that require a little evening sparkle. While it’s safe to say neither of our daily wardrobes would be considered “flashy,” every once and a while a girl wants a little glitz {and both these options are well within our fashion comfort range}. saving for a rainy day

Summers in Texas are very hot and very sunny. However, our falls by contrast can be quite rainy – a welcome change of pace, and often the key to cooling down our temperatures to a range that feels almost seasonal.

In anticipation of the cooler weather {and rain that comes with it} we’ve been eyeing these incredible black rubber rain boots by Loeffler Randall. Continue Reading →

Inspired by designer duo Serena & Lily and their eclectic Bazaar home collection, {see Friday’s post with updates on the pieces they released this past Saturday} we set out in search of the same global aesthetic right in our own backyard. With budget-friendly on the brain, we scoured Dallas for one-of-a-kind finds that won’t break the bank. Continue Reading →

tgif – thrifty girls in {search of} fabulous

Guess what?! It’s Friday! Which means we’ve made it to the end of our first week of blogging only slightly sleep deprived and little worse for the wear.

The good news about all these late nights in front of our computers though, is that we found out ahead of time that uber-chic, home décor haven, Serena & Lily will be opening their Bazaar again starting tomorrow! Continue Reading →
