various musings / make it a good year

Remember last year, when I resolved to be happier by taking on my own “Happiness Project”? And how I was going to post an update each month with how it was going? And that I missed months of updates and then just stopped doing them all together? Well, as is typical with most new year’s resolutions, eventually my very good intentions fell by the wayside – at least on the blog end of things. Granted, I didn’t check in each month, and at a certain point I sort of lost track of the monthly goal aspect. But the truth is, by the end of the year I did in fact find myself feeling happier overall than I had back in January. So I’d like to think my resolution was actually pretty darn successful after all.

That said, this year I decided to narrow my focus some. Instead on trying to take on ALL the areas of my life that need a little work, I’m planning to really invest my efforts towards one – my creativity.

As a designer for a corporation, I have the great fortune of getting paid to be creative, but admittedly it can be a bit limiting. Almost always on the computer, with restrictions, outlines, and other people’s opinions to deal with. This year I want to focus on doing more projects for myself. Getting off the computer and working more with my hands. Painting, crafting, sewing, photography… you get the idea. {And I promise to share at least a few here on the blog.} To get inspired, I decided to take look back at my Project Ideas board on Pinterest and pull a few a few of my favorites. I have to say, I’m feeling more creative already!

Did you make any resolutions this year? I’d love to hear them!
